This house was built in the ‘50’s and is of mid-century style. The house has two bathrooms, which sit side-by-side and are mirror images of each other. The client had been sharing one bathroom with her teenage son while the husband had the second bathroom to himself. After the son moved away, the wife decided to make her dream a reality and transform the bathroom into a Zen-like spa retreat. The bathroom was brought down to the studs and a custom vanity was designed. The vanity, beautifully crafted of unmilled pecan lumber, has perfectly book-matched cabinet doors and mid-century style lines. The client adores penny round tiles, so white ones were installed on the floor and on the backsplash, which continues its march around the entire bathtub surround. White field tiles are installed in a staggered pattern. A gorgeous and colorful waterlily painting by local artist, Baron Wilson, is the final touch to this tranquil and beautiful space. Now the husband wants to re-design his bathroom. I wonder what style and materials he will choose…
