This home was built in the 70’s in the Westlake Hills area – complete with elaborate wallpaper borders and intricate window valances. The clients, with three kids, a dog and a busy lifestyle, wanted to update the home with classic simple lines that would be comfortable and durable for their family life. Wallpaper was removed and walls were lightly textured and painted a soft natural gray-green throughout the house. Simple drapery columns replaced valances. Outdated tile and laminate countertops in the kitchen were replaced with glass tiles and granite. All bathrooms were updated. Beveled subway tiles with sea glass colored accent tile was used in the kid’s bath while travertine and granite was used in the Guest Bath. The Master Bath was remodeled adding a glamorous freestanding tub, a large shower and vanity and a beautiful accent tile of black, grey and white marble that flows through the large space. The upstairs area was reworked into an entertainment area with a custom banquette, window seat, bookshelves and TV console. These updates, combined with new furniture and thick, plush carpeting, add style and comfort to this large and very pleasant home.
